Samsung G800 + Symbian S60 OS9.2 = Samsung G810

samsungg810rg6 Samsung G800 + Symbian S60 OS9.2 = Samsung G810

The same Samsung G800 with 5 megapixel camera sensor and 3x optical zoom, has been reinforced so that it can directly battle with the mighty Nokia N95.

Using the same software, Symbian Series 60 OS9.2 with Feature Pack 1 is quite a great move for Samsung’s Flagship (?) device to become one of the best in its kind.

    * GSM/UMTS/3.6 Mbps HSDPA connectivity
    * Symbian 9.2 OS with S60 3.1 UI
    * 2.6″ 262K Color QVGA TFT display
    * 5 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, anti-shake, face recognition, macro mode, autofocus, etc;
    * 150 MB of memory and microSD memory card slot
    * GPS navigation
    * Wi-FI b/g
    * Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, USB 2.0 (microUSB connector)
    * 1200 mAh battery
    * Dimensions: 104×52×9×18 mm

Unfortunately it can’t beat the N95 8GB but i seems a better option than the N95-1.

N96 and the S60 OS9.2 Feature Pack 2

Written by Meraj Chhaya on February 5, 2008 – 5:03 pm

59091071re6 N96 and the S60 OS9.2 Feature Pack 2

I just saw the brand new OS9.2 Feature Pack 2 from Symbian S60, and the screenshot was quite an eye opener. I will talk about this just now.

What is important is definitely the new features of the Operating System, which aren’t many. This Feature Pack is only focused on email features, as reported on the S60 website:

"The built-in email client in S60 supports, by default, all of the widely used standard email protocols – such as POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, and MIME. This allows S60-based devices to connect to virtually every internet email service. Email access can be initiated by the user when needed, or the client can be configured to poll the mailbox periodically. The user can then define the days and time period during which automatic mailbox polling is performed, as well as setting the polling interval."

Another feature implemented was OMA Data Synchronization protocol for email access. The OMA Data Synchronization support enables mail synchronization locally, using PC Suite, and remotely, with compatible synchronization servers. (The synchronization server may request that synchronization start by way of a short message.) This provides the user with a push e-mail experience without requiring them to stay permanently connected to the server. This sounds a bit like Blackberry service.

Now let me get me back to that screenshot. You must have noticed that I referred to the Nokia N96 being associated to this new release of S60, I said that because the theme used in the S60 screenshots is equal, or seems equal to the theme on the leaked N96 images, see for yourself:

16GB Apple iPhone on the way

Written by Meraj Chhaya on February 5, 2008 – 4:13 pm

i2yr0 16GB Apple iPhone on the way

When your features can’t win them, the huge storage size surely can.

This will definitely win the heart of music fans and even movie fanatics. 16GB is double of any phone that I know, and the iPhone comes packed with the same amount of features, and the famous Safari browser, although it keeps the poor GPRS/EDGE networks.

The price is quite acceptable, $500 from Apple’s store.

In Apple’s press release it was also announced a 32GB iPod Touch.

Linux mobile platform ACCESS at Mobile World Congress

Written by Meraj Chhaya on February 5, 2008 – 4:01 pm

The Mobile World Congress at Barcelona hasn’t even started and the fuss about who and what is going to be there is already starting.

The theme for the company is "Open up your world", and it might be trying to shift the attention of Google Android onto their own Linux creations.

Access will also demonstrate and let visitors experience NetFront widgets, which supports the creation of dynamic Web applications with rich user interfaces.

Besides this, we will also see more DVB-h and DTV applications, which combine NetFront and TV, for a full interactive TV experience.

Web transcoders and switches will be part of Access’ Mobile World Congress exhibitions, who are making a move in the international market thanks to their success in the Japanese mobile industry.

A really intriguing video, but we can say one thing for sure, it has to do with Portable TV.

This means that Motorola will focus a lot on DVB-h, or on watching movies on your mobile phone, or simply include a big ass display on the device that it’s planning to launch. According to many websites, this might be the rumoured Motorola Z12.
The Z12 was rumoured to have 5 megapixel Kodak camera, but now again they could release the 8 Megapixel camera Z10. We really don’t know for sure but we do have a few clues…
