NGage to lock games to IMEI, and not user!
Written by Meraj Chhaya on May 21, 2008 – 7:51 pm
I was scrolling through my feeds, and I must have skipped AAS, as Ricky Cadden, the Guru from Symbian Guru told me that Nokia is locking NGage games to IMEI.
What this means is that once you buy a game for your phone, it stays ON THAT PHONE, which means that if you change phones, you cannot do anything to get it back, doesn’t work with actual licences or anything, it’s simply locked to the phone, pretty much what happens to the Nokia Maps licences, although you can transfer the IMEI if you request it.
All I ask is that you help to create some attention to Nokia, as one day, you will need this. So, NSeries or “NGagers”, pop in at the NGage forum thread, and post your views.
Tzer2 was the one who wrote the original article regarding this matter, so please read the post at All About NGage and get another idea of what is happening regarding NGage lock-to-IMEI issue.

[...] If you do not remember what the problem is: when you buy a NGage game, it licenses a single IMEI, and there is no option to transfer the games to another phone. This does stop piracy, but if you get a new phone, all your money is lost! [...]
