Sony Ericsson Paris is still P5i, not P200

Written by Meraj Chhaya on May 25, 2008 – 10:55 pm

uaf-p2001 Sony Ericsson Paris is still P5i, not P200

I am really sorry about this mistake, I apologize for not confirming the news myself, but I guess Cellpassion and Engadget Mobile must be feeling as stupid as I am right now. I’m talking about, of course, the article I published few hours ago stating that the P200 was the real name for the P5i.

As you can see above, that is the reason that the P200 is a different phone. The P5i has a 5 megapixel camera, and the P200 (whatever that will be) will have a 2 megapixel camera, and will be a candybar (ends in a zero), while the P5i is obviously a slider.

Sony Ericsson P5 Paris is actually P200

p200 Sony Ericsson P5 Paris is actually P200

Well one thing seems to be for sure: Sony Ericsson codenamed Paris isn’t P5, but it’s P200. This was uncovered by the UA profile leaked above. There isn’t full information about the phone, but we already know the most important features and have live pictures. Logically a flagship business smartphone should follow the model template from the previous one, in other words, from P1i, it should remain P5i, so this after all, might be wrong information.

The only thing missing now is a launch date and the press release.

NGage to be fixed: No more one IMEI per game

Written by Meraj Chhaya on May 25, 2008 – 6:44 pm

metal_gear_solid_n95_8gb_lowres NGage to be fixed: No more one IMEI per game

All the noise that we made really caught Nokia’s attention, although they haven’t fixed anything yet, they told us they will. That’s a starting point!

If you do not remember what the problem is: when you buy a NGage game, it licenses a single IMEI, and there is no option to transfer the games to another phone. This does stop piracy, but if you get a new phone, all your money is lost!

kevin-martin FCC to auction 25MHz spectrum

Kevin Martin, FCC chairman, announced on Friday that there will be a vote to decide whether the 25MHz spectrum in the 2155-2180 MHz advanced wireless services band, or AWS III, will be auctioned or not.

“We’ve had a variety of proposals that had come into the commission originally where some people wanted us to give them the spectrum,” said the chairman in a press conference. There is a time limit of four years to provide a free service to 50% of the population, and to 95% by the end of the licence.

cp10_01 3G iPhone to support 42mbps

An unnamed executive at Australia’s Telstra has leaked that the upcoming Apple iPhone 3G will support Evolved HSPA at 42mbps. This is rather strange as the first iPhone didn’t even have 3G, and the second will have a future type of connectivity which is still in testing phase.
