HTC calls investors
Written by Meraj Chhaya on June 27, 2008 – 2:53 pm
HTC's share price fell sharply post the Apple iPhone 3G launch, while Nokia and RIM, competitors of Apple, moved higher. The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc published a report where it believes that this is due to a misperception towards HTC, as the Touch Diamond enjoys better features than the iPhone 3G. Here is their article:

Nokia tests “Mojo” in South Africa
Written by Meraj Chhaya on June 26, 2008 – 6:03 pm
Nokia today announced a project with the WITS Journalism programme, DStv Mobile and CityVarsity. The project, to be run from the Johannesburg journalism campus, sees local students from Wits and CityVarsity using a broadcast kit made up of a Nokia Nseries device and accompanying accessories which assist in mobile newsgathering.

Press release continued after the break. If you have any doubts or questions regarding this project, please feel free to leave them in the comments section as PhoneReport is planning to visit the project at the University and have a talk with the individuals involved. We are especially interested in it as I use a Nokia N95 for image capture for events and reviews, and audio recording during events and interviews.

Motorola MOTOZINE ZN5 official
Written by Meraj Chhaya on June 23, 2008 – 4:20 pmFinally Motorola decided to release their 5 megapixel camera masterpiece crafted together with Kodak, well atleast the camera was built by them. We've definitely been waiting a long time, and by checking into my posts, the first news about the ZN5 was well before Motorola's roadmap leak back in April. Kodak's partnership with Motorola was also unveiled back in March.
The ZN5 has a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, low-light optimization, and a Xenon flash. The highlight of the camera is the ability to work with Kodak applications which enhance the camera. Of course this might sound like marketing nonsense, but by looking at Kodak's experience, it's quite believable. Another feature of this Kodak program is to create panorama pictures, which can be stitched together in order to form a major image.
There is a 950mAh battery included, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/i, Bluetooth v2.0, 3.5mm jack, FM Radio, USB 2.0, 350MB internal memory with support for a 4GB microSD, TV-out, and Shozu application.The display is only 2.4" and has QVGA resolution (240x320). Unfortunately there is no GPS or a complex operating system which would make the phone an interesting competitor against its rivals.
Press release, release date, specifications and more photos after the jump. Oh, and it has been reviewed already.

Interview: Nokia Nseries’ Henri Mattila
Written by Meraj Chhaya on June 22, 2008 – 9:31 pm
At the N96, N78 and N82 Black launch event in South Africa, we had the chance to speak with Henri Mattila, Head of NSeries Go to Market Sales for Middle East and Africa.
We asked a lot of crucial questions regarding the phones, their competitors, and Nokia's strategy for NSeries. We didn't get some of the answers that we were really looking for, as some were more appropriate for the Product Managers, but Henri's arguments provide a perspective of where Nokia is going, and where it's coming from.
- We got to know why consumers aren't getting more battery juice for the N96;
- Why only N95 8GB and N96 get movies;
- Why Dual LED instead of Xenon flash on the N96;
- Why isn't there optical zoom on the N96's camera;
- Nokia doesn't think we need more than 3.6mbps on HSDPA speeds;
- If N96 and N78 are toys for us to play while Touch UI devices are coming;
- Why the N82 Black came so late.
Check the full interview after the jump.
