Motorola touched 8,87$ with Q2 Profits
Written by M. Hussein on July 31, 2008 – 2:45 pm
Motorola reported today nice and surprising 2Q profits, above the expectatives. The home-entertainment, public safety units and the wireless-phone division explains the gains. In the second quarter, Motorola reported net income of $4 million, or break even per share, up from a year-earlier loss of $28 million, or 1 cent a share. These aren’t great profits but what matters it the fact of those being above the analysts predictions.

Brief Nokia analysis - Negative Season?
Written by M. Hussein on July 29, 2008 – 1:10 pm
Few days ago I had posted a trade gain of 11% at Nokia, playing at the same time with the results of that company (which is dangerous but the results normally follow the trend, that’s why I love technical analysis). At that post, Matthew from NSeriesus asked why we talk about stocks in a phone related website. The reason is simple: As I trade in the stock market I could help Meraj improve other areas from this niche (mobile phones) so that we could diversify our themes and have also a different audience, such as people who love Technology stocks!
Back to the Nokia Analysis…We have been observing consecutive little Gaps on the daily price, which lead us to conclude that there is indecision, also, the volume on this uptrend is a diminishing one, showing that the bulls might NOT be strong. In the same view the main and primary trend is lower, the longer term moving averages are lower, and the stock is resisting at 27,90 (23,60% of fibonacci). So then, my advice is to wait until it proves the innocence, which means, wait until you see if there are a reaction in the 50 day Moving Average, which again means, there might be a possibility of retraction through 26,38 - If you are able to, you can simply short it! Also add a stop loss over 28,38 in that trade.
If you are a passive trader, wait for that reaction at 26,38…be passive, because the short term trend still up and we don’t want to discover tops or bottoms; we want to follow the trend. That’s it!

iPhone 3G in 20 more countries on the 22/08
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 25, 2008 – 12:41 am
According to chief operating officer Tim Cook, very simply, this should mean that countries such as South Africa will receive the much awaited Apple iPhone 3G on this date, the 22th of August. According to MacWorld:
Questions from analysts about the tight supplies of iPhone 3Gs prompted Cook to mention Apple’s expansion plans. Cook pointed out that the shortages are a result of “overwhelming demand” and that Apple was confident enough in its ability to boost production that it would expand the iPhone’s market by 20 countries on August 22.
The countries that haven’t received the Apple iPhone 3G are listed on the image above. I’ve seen some heavy pre-sales marketing on the South African side, and I don’t doubt the same is happening in other parts of the world. Now Apple just has to fulfill their promise.
Besides these 20 countries, Apple pretends to introduce the iPhone in more than 70 countries by the year’s end, but low stock isn’t helping their delivery. Of these 72 countries already listed, 22 have received it, 20 should receive it on August, and the rest aren’t accounted for yet.

Leaked BlackBerry 8220 Kickstart review
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 25, 2008 – 12:24 am
It wasn’t much long that the first BlackBerry clamshell leaked, that Crackberry got their hands on the device. The Kickstart is the first clamshell BlackBerry, and one of the few business phones of this form factor.
The device was supposed to have the 9100 model, but it changed to 8220. There is also a 8210 which is a clamshell device as well. The 8220 will have WiFi, while the 8210 will have GPS. The launch is rumoured to happen with T-Mobile on September, as low as 50US$ on a 24 month contract. It’s clearly a low-mid-end smartphone, and the features confirm that:
- Clamshell / flip phone form factor
- Quad-band radios: GSM/GPRS/EDGE (no 3G)
- 240 x 320 internal LCD (think Curve/8800 display flipped to portrait)
- 160 x 128 external display
- 2 megapixel camera
- 3.5mm headset jack
- externally accessible microSD card slot
- OS version 4.6
- “Next Gen” SureType keyboard
- 8220 will feature WiFi; 8210 will feature GPS
I advise you to read on the first part of the review, there are a lot of attractive images and content. What we are really waiting or is the Thunder/Storm to arrive on to our screens. I added few more pictures that I found interesting, after the jump.
