Samsung i450 review - Introduction
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 1, 2008 – 7:31 pm
Samsung smartphones’ history isn’t a very memorable one. Rarely you will see someone with such a device in South Africa. I’ve seen none: no Windows Mobile powered devices nor S60 phones by Samsung. The most common smartphones in South Africa seem to be NSeries and HTC.

FCC approves Sony Ericsson iPhone copy
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 1, 2008 – 3:53 pm
This is a difficult one. The front panel reminds you of a Sony Ericsson, but the software image is clearly of an iPhone. I can’t discuss much about the similar appearance with a Sony Ericsson, but there is a clear copy of the iPhone User Interface.

The Ezio Mega4 was approved by FCC, who didn’t read the user manual properly so they didn’t notice what was in front of their eyes: the iPhone Menu. It’s not their fault you know, there is too much work to do, and Mr Douglas Ko must’ve put some extra bucks on that authorization letter. More detail on the phone after the jump.

iPhone 3G to come with potatoes
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 1, 2008 – 3:43 pm
Nokia and Sony Ericsson went green already, and Apple didn’t want to be left behind, so they contracted PaperFoam to make iPhone 3G boxes with potato starch paper trays. The trays will be fully recyclable and and 90% less carbon footprint than plastic.

Apple has already been criticized by Greenpeace for using BFRS and PVCs in their products. Contracting PaperFoam is one step closer to protecting the earth, next move is to make the iPhones themselves environment-friendly.

Sony won’t give PSP to Sony Ericsson
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 1, 2008 – 2:45 pmSony has already put Cybershot and Walkman branding on the Sony Ericssons, but they say that PlayStation will not leave their building. When the PlayStation Portable (PSP) was announced, everyone wanted a PSP phone as well. Large display, excellent gaming capabilities, etc. It seems that if that does happen, it will be a Sony, and not a Sony Ericsson.

How Nokias are named
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 1, 2008 – 2:31 amI never thought of looking for this, but it suddenly appeared in front of me, quite literally. There is a logical way that Nokia names their phones. Sometimes we feel that phone from a series don’t fit and don’t match and think that Nokia just felt like putting both phones in one category, well atleast I think like that. Turns out I’m wrong, there is an actual criteria for naming phones.
