Sony Ericsson Linda is W595
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 5, 2008 – 7:32 pm
That was quick! The Sony Ericsson codename Linda, which leaked a blurry image is now reported with more detail. There is a clearly visible picture, a proper model number, and specifications.
The device looks very much like the W580, and it is obviously an update to that phone. It is also clearly a Walkman device, and has a Walkman 3 player. The phone will feature an FM player, it will run on the A2 software platform, and will come with navigation software such as Google Maps, so there is a chance that it might include a GPS receiver. There is also a accelerometer (motion sensor).
The probably announcement date for the W595 is 22nd of July, this month. The release date should be around September this year.

Slider iPhone with keyboard on the works?
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 5, 2008 – 7:15 pm
What made the iPhone so futuristic was it’s touchscreen-only user interface. Adding a keyboard might just ruin it all. However, adding it with style, such as on the TYTN II or the XPERIA X1 might attract business consumers.
Besides a front-facing camera and a better back camera, the iPhone actually needs a hardware keyboard. For some functions a touchscreen keyboard is nice, but for others you would actually like to have a hardware keyboard. Look at the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet: it has a slide-out keyboard, and still looks great. Here’s a quote from our source:
What he is apparently doing is canvassing the idea with operators. “If you had a keyboard version, how many would you take?” And he has taken this beyond just chatting: actual prototypes - not just mockups - have been sent to senior executives at some operators. I’m not allowed to even hint which operators… but I can report that the keyboard has “issues” which are not yet resolved.

Sony Ericsson Remi leaked
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 5, 2008 – 6:28 pm
The Sony Ericsson Remi is new device with the blended characteristics of both the infamous T610 and the W890, but it’s not a Walkman phone. Our source says that it’s a T610 remake, perhaps it’s because it’s focused on substituting the T610 and heading to the same market. It has the W890’s hardware characteristics: it might have around 10mm thickness and 4.7cm. The body will be made out of aluminum. The Remi runs on the A2 platform, has HSDPA, and a 3.2 megapixel camera with fixed focus. Unfortunately our Sony Ericsson release date list doesn’t give us a date for the device, but our source says that it won’t be too long before they announce it, and according to Esato forums, on the 22nd of July, this month, there will be an announcement.
Sony Ericsson needs to be battling the NSeries so the Remi will be a upper mid-tier device. The specifications don’t sound very good for an upper mid-tier, so an addition should be made to the specifications. The pricetag will reveal more detail and we will have another improved opinion about the device. Second lateral perspective image after the jump.
