iPhone App Store has 522 applications
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 10, 2008 – 8:22 pm
The Apple iPhone 3G has already been launched in countries such as New Zealand, and it’s App Store has also opened. There are 522 applications available, of which 135 are free for download. The method to get to the App Store is to go through iTunes, but it seems that the link doesn’t appear there, so we got the following tip:
There’s no link (that I’ve seen) to the App store, however, do a quick search for AIM, which we already know is a confirmed app. You’ll then see the AIM app, and after it is downloaded, you can click the “Get More Applications” button at the bottom right corner of the Applications section.

Bluetooth Umbrella concept for the rain
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 10, 2008 – 5:30 pm
This could be more than just a concept, really. Mikhail Stawsky’s Bluetooth Umbrella has a bluetooth speaker, a microphone, a small LCD touchscreen, and obviously Bluetooth on the umbrella’s handle. To add to the sound, there is also FM Radio. Now you can show off your umbrella, something we never thought possible.

Nokia Chat from Beta Labs is linked to LBS
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 10, 2008 – 5:15 pm
LBS does not stand for Lotsa bullshit, but for Location Based Services. How can a chat program relate to that? It’s all explained, but before I get there, let me show you my views on LBS:
LBS uses GPS and mobile broadband, the basic idea is that services around your position will interact to you, through your phone. It sounds like excessive advertising, but then again it would be nice to be driving in the highway and getting a pop-up on your phone reminding you that there is a McDonalds 2km ahead, in case you feel like filling your tummy.
There is more than just advertising. I believe Nokia Chat is related to LBS, I’m not 100% sure, but it pretty much sounds like it:
Chance meetings with friends are made easy. Pick out your places on Nokia Maps and choose where you want to publish your presence. Chat automatically updates your location status when you arrive at your hangouts.
There is a video after the jump in case you want a better, and interesting explanation.

Nokia announces giant phones for China
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 10, 2008 – 4:50 pm
Nokia releases giant phones in China as a request from Bao Xishuan, the tallest Chinese man in the world. The new giant Nokia 6670 measures 36 x 17 x 6.5 inches and weighs 48.5 pounds.
Of course it’s not true. It was Mr Tan, an electronics addict that developed this huge phone, which is 621 times bigger than his original 6670. According to Tan, the phone has actually better reception that his original device. The giant phone lets you send messages, record video, take pictures, and browse the internet.
I don’t think it would fit on my pocket….More pictures after the jump.
