More live pictures on Sony Ericsson Remi

Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 21, 2008 – 5:40 pm

sony-ericsson-remi-live-picture-leak-300x225 More live pictures on Sony Ericsson RemiWe haven’t gotten the name of the so-called T610 successor, but we do have few more pictures, which show the 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, the flat back cover, and close-up on those squarish buttons.

We already know the specifications, and have a clue about the size. We also know that Remi will have HSDPA and will run on the A2 platform.

We are expecting to hear an announcement tomorrow, where more Walkman devices should be revealed officially.

More pictures after the break.

Skype to release HDSPA phone on 3

Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 21, 2008 – 5:31 pm

skypephone-s2-151x300 Skype to release HDSPA phone on 3The Skypephone S2 will be launched on the network 3, and will feature HSDPA as one of its main features. For a phone dedicated to VoIP, internet speed should be one of the most important factors.

There will obviously be included Skype application with dedicated shortcuts. Your phonebook will be integrated on the Skype application, introducing convergence.

You will also find a 2.2” display with QVGA resolution (240×320), 3.2 megapixel camera, although there is no word about the flash, and built-in modem drivers for you to use it as an HSDPA modem.

The phone was supposed to be released today, but we haven’t heard any word about it. One more picture available after the jump.

Quick Recipes on Symbian OS - book

Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 21, 2008 – 4:28 pm

quick-recipes-on-symbian-os Quick Recipes on Symbian OS - bookMichael Aubert informed me of his new book, which was written with Jo Stichbury, Tanzim Husain, Alexey Gusev, Jenny Mulholland, Antony Pranata and Jukka Silvennoinen. The two latter Symbian experts were interviewed by us in the past.

The book is targeted at people who know C++ but have never developed for mobile devices. The writers also wanted the book to be accessible to academic staff and university students, to complement the Symbian Academy program.

The book also includes a ‘Getting Started’ chapter and another chapter that describes the essential idioms of Symbian C++. The book closes with an explanation of best practices, tips and tricks, and how to prepare your application for release - taking you from novice cook to cordon bleu chef in under 400 pages!

In simple terms, for a programmer it seems like the perfect book to get started with Symbian, but even for experts this should be a must-have, and a proof of that is the list of experts that compiled it.

Thanks Michael, hope to see more of these soon!

Jabra BT4010 - Bluetooth headset with LCD

Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 21, 2008 – 4:25 pm

jabra-bt4010-with-lcd-300x300 Jabra BT4010 - Bluetooth headset with LCDJabra’s new headset has an innovative component - a display. For years we had to fiddle with funny colours and beeps to figure out what was happening with our Bluetooth headset: Does it need some charging? Is it paired? Is it not?

The 10g BT4010 solves our troubles, and notifies us through a LCD of any occurrence that we should know of. It measures 49×17x28mm, and should be available in UK for about US$60, which is overpriced for a Bluetooth headset at this stage, but considering the innovation, some people won’t mind to dig into their pockets.

The headset lasts 150 hours on standby, 6 hours on talk-time, and features auto-pairing and e-SCO technology crystal clear sound.
