iPhone 3G in 20 more countries on the 22/08
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 25, 2008 – 12:41 am
According to chief operating officer Tim Cook, very simply, this should mean that countries such as South Africa will receive the much awaited Apple iPhone 3G on this date, the 22th of August. According to MacWorld:
Questions from analysts about the tight supplies of iPhone 3Gs prompted Cook to mention Apple’s expansion plans. Cook pointed out that the shortages are a result of “overwhelming demand” and that Apple was confident enough in its ability to boost production that it would expand the iPhone’s market by 20 countries on August 22.
The countries that haven’t received the Apple iPhone 3G are listed on the image above. I’ve seen some heavy pre-sales marketing on the South African side, and I don’t doubt the same is happening in other parts of the world. Now Apple just has to fulfill their promise.
Besides these 20 countries, Apple pretends to introduce the iPhone in more than 70 countries by the year’s end, but low stock isn’t helping their delivery. Of these 72 countries already listed, 22 have received it, 20 should receive it on August, and the rest aren’t accounted for yet.

Leaked BlackBerry 8220 Kickstart review
Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 25, 2008 – 12:24 am
It wasn’t much long that the first BlackBerry clamshell leaked, that Crackberry got their hands on the device. The Kickstart is the first clamshell BlackBerry, and one of the few business phones of this form factor.
The device was supposed to have the 9100 model, but it changed to 8220. There is also a 8210 which is a clamshell device as well. The 8220 will have WiFi, while the 8210 will have GPS. The launch is rumoured to happen with T-Mobile on September, as low as 50US$ on a 24 month contract. It’s clearly a low-mid-end smartphone, and the features confirm that:
- Clamshell / flip phone form factor
- Quad-band radios: GSM/GPRS/EDGE (no 3G)
- 240 x 320 internal LCD (think Curve/8800 display flipped to portrait)
- 160 x 128 external display
- 2 megapixel camera
- 3.5mm headset jack
- externally accessible microSD card slot
- OS version 4.6
- “Next Gen” SureType keyboard
- 8220 will feature WiFi; 8210 will feature GPS
I advise you to read on the first part of the review, there are a lot of attractive images and content. What we are really waiting or is the Thunder/Storm to arrive on to our screens. I added few more pictures that I found interesting, after the jump.
