LG brings Dolby Surround Sound to phones
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 5, 2008 – 5:38 pm
We had already seen a prototype of a phone executing a Dolby Surround application on a N95 8GB, and now it’s LG that signs up for the campaign. It’s only good for the consumer to have excellent sound quality, not only to listen to music, but also to watch movies as mobile phone displays grow in size and resolution.
More information about the Dolby Mobile features after the jump.

Red Apple iPhone for Christmas
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 5, 2008 – 5:34 pm
It’s only a rumour, but it has happened before with Apple. It doesn’t look too good and it won’t probably have any new features, so the new red iPhone should only be successful if it is limited in stock, as it will create a big demand for a low supply.
The profits are usually donated to Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. Previously Apple has sold red iTunes gift cards, red 8GB iPod Nanos, and red 1GB iPod Shuffles.

Moto ROKR line expands with EM30, EM28, EM25
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 5, 2008 – 4:26 pm
Motorola today introduced three new phones to add to the ROKR music phone series of the company’s portfolio. The EM30 is a candybar with ModeShift technology and a 3.5mm jack. The EM28 is a clamshell with 3D sound effects and touch sensitive keys. The EM25 is a slider with FM radio sharing capabilities, and SONGID application.
None of the devices have 3G or a camera above 2 megapixels. The only thing that can save Motorola here is the external appearance. For some reason the company hasn’t been releasing devices in a sensible manner, and we hope that the new Co-CEO Sanjay Jha will change that. Press release and factsheets, as well as images after the jump.
All phones are to be available this quarter.

Nokia Movie Store coming soon?
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 5, 2008 – 1:59 am
A strange but totally possible rumour is the one of Nokia Movie Store. According to James Burland from Nokia Creative, the upcoming store, which if released, will charge a small monthly fee and allow you to download and stream movies at 320 x 240 anamorphic H.264 400 kbps video stream alongside a AAC stereo 96 kbps soundtrack.
The application could be called Nokia Cinema instead of Nokia Movie Store, but then again, it’s all speculation. There is no official proof or clues that lead to this, but most Nokia flagships come bundled with movies that can be played on TVs via the TV-out port. The only change we need is increased resolution, but that is coming with the next phones, such as the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

Don’t use SIM card emulators to unlock iPhone!
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 5, 2008 – 1:50 am
The iPhone Dev Team, famous for releasing software that jailbreaks and unlocks Apple iPhones advised their readers not to use SIM card unlock or proxy SIM card solutions to aid the unlock. According to the team’s blog, these “sim mods so far seem very very very questionable”. The team doesn’t provide deep inside regarding the reasoning behind their conclusion but warns people to avoid them.
A quote from the iPhone Dev Team blog:
Zf has found that they use trickery of the GSM and UMTS network that is considered highly illegal in most countries and they rely on sending bogus IMSIs and various other nasty hacks to obtain service on your iPhone. A couple of our members have worked out how this all “works” and we’ll try to publish our findings soon.
