Where is the Samsung Omnia i900 heading?
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 6, 2008 – 12:34 am
The Samsung Omnia i900 is regarded as the answer to the Apple iPhone 3G. What many don’t know is that the i900 is more than just that. The i900’s hardware features beat the Apple iPhone and its software features equal it.
Having enough memory and a slick User Interface was the key to achieve this success, and here it was Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional that did the trick. The key to beat the iPhone 3G is the camera, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, image stabiliser, and flash.
When it comes to equalling the iPhone 3G’s potential, the built-in A-GPS was crucial, as well as HSDPA at 7.2mbps, WLAN, and Bluetooth 2.0. In terms of memory, you can choose to have either an 8GB version or 16GB, just like the iPhone. To finalize this masterpiece, a powerful 624MHz Marvell PXA312 processor was implemented, but unfortunately, with only 128MB of RAM.
