Although it has a small display that is not very comfortable to watch movies in, and the sound speaker intensity isn’t as much as other phones, it performs well and is quite attractive to the user, as Sony Ericsson has a great experience in this field thanks to their Walkman phones.

The highlight of the the whole multimedia set-up is the Media application itself. It feels like a fast flash program, and it’s simple, there are icons and words next to it. No fancy background or anything like it, and that turns it into a sleek program. The multimedia is divided in four main categories:

  • Photos
  • Music
  • Videos
  • Settings

Each category divided into sub-categories, such as tags, genres, albums, etc. The application auto-rotates with the help of the accelerometer (motion sensor).

The entertainment applications contains many other programs inside it, it’s like a folder. First are the games:

  • Marble Madness 3D
  • Tennis Multiplay

Like many sections inside the entertainment folder, and others folder, you can search for options, as there is an in-line text field on the top. Comes very handy when you don’t want to scroll all the way down your list of hundreds of games.

Marble Madness 3D’s highlight is that it works with the motion sensor. HTC makes a big thing out of it, while Nokia phones can install that game (one is Groove Lab, and the other Marble Maze), and the K850i already comes with it. The graphics aren’t very fancy, but the controls make it an interesting game, although you can turn off motion control and play with the D-pad. If you want more realistic sense, turn on the vibration and feel the marbles hit the walls.

Tennis Multiplay is developed by SEGA and its highlight is the Bluetooth play. Once again, the graphics aren’t too fancy, although they are satisfactory.

Moving out from the games, we explore the individual applications inside the Entertainment folder:

TrackID’s function is to known to us, record a piece of sound, and check on the internet to what track it belongs, and present the details of the extract.

VideoDJ allows you to modify an image or video by adding text, soundtracks, picture effects, trimming it, or joining pictures together.

PhotoDJ works in landscape mode only, and has the following functions: auto level, a sort of automatic adjustment; light balance; brightness and contrast; colour balance; red-eye removal; rotation; addition of effects; addition of items, such as the ones found on Microsoft Office Clipart.

MusicDJ allows you to mix several beats and set a tempo, so that you can have your own mix device. It’s quite amateur, but some people might find it fun.

From the above DJ applications, PhotoDJ and VideoDJ are quite necessary in such a phone, but MusicDJ is just for the fun of it.

Remote Control is something like Salling Clicker. It allows you to fully control your computer. You can set it only for Presenter mode, such as for PowerPoint slides; media player mode, to take over the controls; or desktop mode for some real mouse control.

The last two applications are Voice Recorder, which unfortunately has no options, and only records in AMR, and there’s the Demo Tour video.

Outside the Entertainment folder there is the PlayNow application which allows you to download Music,Games, Ringtones, and Themes. It’s sort of a refined “Download!” application, the one we find on Nokia S60 phones.
