HTC shipments 54% higher than expectations

htc touch diamond red for sprint 254x300 HTC shipments 54% higher than expectationsPeter Chou, Chief Executive Officer, High-Tech Computer (HTC,) has increased end-year shipment forecasts of two HTC devices, the T-Mobile G1, and the Touch Diamond.  The new total is 4m devices, compared to the previous forecast of 2.6m  devices.

The T-Mobile G1 was expected to ship 600 000 units, but faced an increase of 67% to 1m units. The Touch Diamond was expected to ship 2m units, but the forecast increased 50% to 3m units.

The CEO further revealed that the company is planning to acquire a handset design company in the US, which PhoneReport believes is San Francisco design studio One & Co, the company that aided HTC in the design of the Touch Diamond.
