ROME, Italy - More product launches for RIM. The Bold 9700 is now available on the 3 Italia network.
The smartphone is the latest version of the Bold, it is Wi-Fi-enabled, has built-in GPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera, plus a "dazzling" display, according to RIM in the announcement. Interestingly, it is the first UMTS/HSDPA tri-band and EDGE/GPRS/GSM quadband phone to be released in the market. This will give the Bold great versatility in the GSM world.
The Bold 9700 has the new trackpad, with a full QWERTY keyboard, and utilizes the new and very stable 5.0 operating system. It also has the standard 3.5mm headset jack, media player, and support for iTunes. Bluetooth 2.1 and a microSD card slot that can support up to 32GB cards in the future. It ships with a 2GB card, which is low in comparison to the 8GB that seems to be standard.
