OVERLAND PARK, USA - The Google Android 2.2 Froyo firmware update is now available for Sprint customers who own the Samsung Epic 4G. For some, it may only be released later this month.
For those users who prefer to take shortcuts instead of waiting, experts have compiled a guide, which consists of downloading the update file, moving it to the root folder of the Epic 4G and renaming it "update.zip", boot the handset in "recovery mode", and apply the "sdcard" update. Alternatively, users can simply wait, as the update should reach everyone by the end of this month.
The Epic 4G, also know as the Samsung Galaxy S Pro, is an Android smartphone with a slide-out QWERTY keyyboard, a 4" Super AMOLED touchscreen display protected by Gorilla Glass, an ARM Cortex A8 chip at 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM, GPS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and an LED flash, and a microSD memory card slot.
