Besides some of the noted bad points of the device, such as the battery performance, there are reports of faulty motion sensors, volume keys, but mostly, yellow tinted displays. It's not even a week since the first iPhone 3G sold, and people are already making a fuss about it. A warning side to the countries are still waiting for the phone, such as South Africa, whom rumouredly should receive it within the next few weeks, and also to the people who haven't bought it (yet).
Some of the complainants consider the yellow-tint to be a firmware issue, while others consider it a hardware problem. Few have noticed that it only happens in the 16GB variant, and by increasing the brightness, it's not visible. Engadget spoke to a marketing manager of Apple who told them:
the screen's colour temperature has been purposely altered on the new iPhone to produce warmer, more natural tones, sharper images, and deeper blacks

I live in New Zealand and paid 1129 NZD for an iPhone 3G 16GB White. So far I am up to my 4th replacement for things like light leakages etc. Its normal to expect perfection from a $1129NZD device. Seriously. Even at $199USD thats enough to just “make do” with what you have got. I get really really frustrated and annoyed at people who just say “nothing is perfect” and “you are using up stock for people who want to buy one.” And to those people who think replacing it uses up stock: You are doing a dis-service to everyone if you do not replace it. Replacing it alerts apple to the issue so they can fix it. Im sure people wouldnt mind waiting a couple of days to get a good iPhone 3G instead of being unhappy with their device the whole time they own it. This is why apple have support forums; they want people to alert apple and others of issues.

Google Iphone Light leakage problem. Most of the Iphones have a light leakage problem. Yes there are some out there that do not have this problem but most of the ones I have seen do.
