In what apparently seems to be like a confirmation of the Thunder name, BGR reports that the BlackBerry Thunder's release date is the 13th of October, and that it's name will fall under the 9500 series, as the 9530 model name.

The BlackBerry Thunder's haptic screen was reportedly very fragile, we hope that it has been fixed, otherwise it will have to be delayed once again. This iPhone rival will release on Vodafone and Verizon, and will feature a chip which supports the following networks: GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, 1xEV-DO rev.0, HSPA. There are not many specifications available, and those which are, are always conflicted.
