BlackBerry Thunder vs Apple iPhone 3G
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 7, 2008 – 2:18 am
Is it time to set-up a comparison between these two devices? Well the iPhone 3G is already out there and has been reviewed many times by some of our colleagues, but the BlackBerry Thunder hasn’t been announced, reviewed, or fully leaked: it’s full of speculations. Even the name is under battle: is it Thunder, or Storm, or Thunderstorm? Honestly…
Jim Hill at ElectrigPig thought it was time to get these phones in the battlefield, and after reading his points, he can sort of prove that the Thunder is better than the iPhone, even with the few specifications that we are aware of.
There are 8 reasons: the Thunder is better for typists; Better contracts (in terms of price plans); Better for business (BlackBerry has a huge reputation with businessmen); Better memory (microSD removable memory); Better display (resolution at 360×480 pixels with advanced haptic feedback); Better compatibility (Has Bluetooth, which works in headset-only mode with the iPhone, USB, and is designed for Windows, which is the most used operating system in the world); Works with iTunes and Windows Media Player (BlackBerry Media Sync); has Visual Voicemail for any network.
I wonder what he will come up with once the device IS released.

iPhone exclusively locked to AT&T until 2010
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 7, 2008 – 1:45 am
According to sources, AT&T’s contract with Apple lists that the iPhone 3G is exclusively locked to their network until 2010. The agreement was reportedly until 2009, but large-scale subsidies were paid to keep the device away from other companies in the US until 2010.
The iPhone is one of the main products allowing AT&T to detach itself from the “common” mobile phones by offering a rather futuristic-looking deal to the consumer. It will fuel many sales and promote AT&T as a cellular company.
The old agreement stated that next year the iPhone could be sold by T-Mobile and that Apple could bring out a CDMA version to sell with Sprint, Verizon, and other North American carriers.
The agreement timeframe isn’t confirmed by any of the parties, but AT&T’s chief Randall Stephenson has said that he and AT&T are “very happy” with the deal.

iPhone 3G goes through torture
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 6, 2008 – 2:24 am
Before getting yourself an iPhone 3G, you should read through some reviews and watch some videos of it. If you are a clumsy person you should perhaps test how far the iPhone 3G can handle accidents, and no network will let you test that, so PC World did the test.
The following tests were conducted:
- Simulated Pocket Test
- Direct Key scratching
- Dropping in Milk
- Washing under Faucet
- Drop Test
In the end, the iPhone did crack its display. So go watch the video and see if the device is enough for you.

Red Apple iPhone for Christmas
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 5, 2008 – 5:34 pm
It’s only a rumour, but it has happened before with Apple. It doesn’t look too good and it won’t probably have any new features, so the new red iPhone should only be successful if it is limited in stock, as it will create a big demand for a low supply.
The profits are usually donated to Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. Previously Apple has sold red iTunes gift cards, red 8GB iPod Nanos, and red 1GB iPod Shuffles.
