Insight into Nokia’s latest viral campaign
Written by Meraj Chhaya on November 18, 2008 – 5:45 pm
The Nokia 3600 Slide is launched officially today in South Africa, and journalists participating in the contest for the phone and MD-4 speakers have started fiddling with their Ferrari World Championship: The mobile game, looking for the best score possible.
I have received the Nokia 3600 Slide today, as well as a gift pack with a Scuderia Ferrari cup, Jungle Milk Chocolate energy bar, BlackCat Booster Pack cereal bar, four SuperC lozenges, and two BarOne candy chocolates. It is uncertain why food was sent together with the phone, but it might positvely influence the 3600 Slide’s review rating.
Images from the pack after the break.

EXCLUSIVE: Nokia launches competition for press
Written by Meraj Chhaya on November 17, 2008 – 5:00 pm
As part of their Nokia 3600 Slide launch in South Africa, which will be tomorrow, Nokia will also launch a competition among selected members of the press, in which the three winners will keep their trial Nokia 3600 and MD-4 speakers for themselves. PhoneReport was invited to participate in the competition, and will be represented by myself, Meraj Chhaya.
The winners selected will be the three journalists who achieve the top scores in the Ferrari World Championship: The mobile game, developed by Gameloft, pre-installed on the phone. Users are able to play as official team drivers, Kimi Raikkonen or Felipe Massa on 9 different courses around the world with three levels of difficulty.
The journalists, or press organizations involved, will have three weeks to achieve the top scores, and to show-off their results, they will be asked to upload screenshots to a common channel in Share on Ovi, to which they have been given the login details. The screenshot application used is believed to be Screenshot by Antony Pranata, as the shortcuts available for capture are mostly the same, namely Camera key, <Shift> + <OK>, <Shift> + <*>, Shift> + <#>, <#> + <*> or C.
The small and ergonomically shaped Nokia 3600 slide delivers a 3.2 megapixel camera and the TV-out feature which conveniently connects the Nokia 3600 slide to most television sets, ensuring quick and easy sharing of pictures and videos.
The documents received by us, attached after the break.

Nokia NGage customer feedback working
Written by Meraj Chhaya on September 27, 2008 – 12:52 pm
Nokia had set-up a NGage Customer Feedback website for users to vote for ideas they believed were necessary. The manufacturer has been working hard to make its gaming platform look more appealing to consumers so that they can experience high quality gaming, but so that Nokia can have positive returns as well.
I did vote for few ideas, and the following ones have been accepted:
- Release new updates of N-Gage more often
- to make games with real time multiplayer via Arena or BT
- To use 3D accelerator chip for N-gage Games
- Insist developers make useful demos
- Alert users when newer game versions are available
- make sure the games and the game save can be backed up
- Include Portuguese Language to new N-Gage games
There are several more ideas planned, some under review, but most rejected. Visit the website and vote for the idea you wish to have implemented, or create your own.

Sony Ericsson F305 comes with 61 games!
Written by Meraj Chhaya on September 3, 2008 – 9:44 pm
Mistake or not, it looks like there way too many games bundled with this phone, even though it is focused at gaming, especially motion gaming.
The Sony Ericsson F305 was announced to have eleven games pre-installed: Bowling, Bass fishing, Jockey, Johnny Crash Stuntman Does Texas, Tropical Madness, Racing Fever GT, The Sims 2, Jewel Quest 2, Lumines, Asteroids and Quadrapop Robotics.
When browsing through the website, there is a mention of 50 games being included on the memory card! That adds up to 61, although those 50 are probably trials.
If you don’t remember the F305, take a look at our coverage at release.
