Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 4, 2008 – 4:53 pm

The LG E300 notebook with HSDPA was released in South Africa last week Thursday, 31st of July. The LG E300 had been available from last year, but the company included HSDPA connectivity up to 7.2mbps in this version of the notebook. The only reason we are covering it at PhoneReport is that the notebook contains a connectivity feature that is usually implemented on mobile phones.

The E300 can be customized with a Celeron® 540, 1MB L2 Cache, 1.86GHz, 533MHz FSB or a Core™2 Duo T7300, 4MB L2 Cache, 2.0GHz, 800MHz FSB. It runs on the ATI RS600ME Chipset which supports up to 4GB RAM DDR2 667MHz. There is a 13.3″ display with WXGA (1280×800) resolution and Fine Bright Technology. Besides the HSDPA connectivity, the device features 802.11b/g Wireless LAN supported by a Dual Hexa-band Antenna. It also features 10/100MB Ethernet LAN, and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR. A 1.3 megapixel LG Smart Cam is built-in the notebook, and the graphics are powered by a ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 graphics card with an HDMI output port. To compliment the bundle, there is a also a DVD Super Multi Dual Layer drive and a 250GB SATA hard drive with 5400rpm and HDD Security.

5 competitors of Apple iPhone 3G

Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 22, 2008 – 5:14 pm

If you really don’t want to get the iPhone 3G, either because you don’t like it, or you don’t want to fall into a hype, there is always hope for you. Well, there’s actually 5 hopes for you, if that’s English enough.

David LaGesse brings us the Samsung Instinct, LG Dare, HTC Touch Diamond, LG Vu, and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. For some reason he left the Finnish giant out. Is it justified? Nokia doesn’t have any touchscreen device, but there’s always the E90 or the newbie E71.

LG Chocolate 3 clamshell coming soon

Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 6, 2008 – 9:45 pm

LG is preparing to release the Chocolate 3 with Verizon on the 14th of July. The Chocolate 3 is a clamshell with 1GB internal memory and a memory card slot that supports microSDHC 8GB. Verizon will retail it under the name of VX8560, in Black and Light blue colours.

The internal display has 2.2″ in size with QVGA resolution (240×320 pixels) and the external display has a 1.76″ diagonal and a resolution of 176×220 pixels. To add up to the imaging features, there is a 2 megapixel camera.

The phone isn’t complete without its 3.5mm jack and stereo speakers, as well as Bluetooth v2.1 connectivity and an FM Transmitter. The front wheel might not be a navi-wheel, according to the specifications list, it’s a mechanical wheel.

Pricing will range between $129 after $50 rebate with a 2-year contact, $199 after $50 rebate with a 1-year contract, and $299 full retail, according to our source.

The Chocolate series is famous for its glamorous and glossy looks. The Chocolate 3 in light blue colour might not sustain that reputation, but the device’s specifications and pricing are targeted to a mid-tier device. Specifications comparison list, more images, as well as details about Verizon’s dashboard after the jump.

LG KC910 to have 8 megapixel camera?

Written by Meraj Chhaya on July 3, 2008 – 1:52 am

No picture leak, no confimed information, but an information leak is all we have about this misterious phone. It wouldn’t be very surprising as LG brought one of the first 5 megapixel cameraphones to the market, the LG KG920. The KC910 should have Xenon flash, Image stabiliser, face recognition, and most importantly video recording at 720×480 resolution at 30fps! There will be a WVGA touchscreen, but even though it is feature packed, it should be less than 14mm thick, and the external material should be aluminium casing with hardened glass display. This means that LG won’t forget to put some eye-candy, not like it did with the KG920 featured below.
