Nokia E71 review: First thoughts
Written by Edward "ILikeMyNok" Umana on October 28, 2008 – 1:50 am
Yesterday I received a Nokia E71 for trial from the S60 team. I opened it very anxiously and finally the great E71, winner of the ”Phone Of The Year” and ”Best Smartphone Of The Year” was in my hands. My expectations for the device were very high, I expected a mind blowing and very impressive S60-powered smartphone. Here are my first impressions as well as my after-24 hours of usage thoughts.

Battle: Samsung INNOV8 vs Sony Ericsson C905
Written by Meraj Chhaya on October 27, 2008 – 12:04 am
We persuaded one of Sony Ericsson’s representatives to jump over to Samsung’s huge booth at the Symbian Smartphones Show, to let us take few comparison pictures between the Samsung i8510 INNOV8, and the Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot. After much discussion and some embarrassment from the Sony Ericsson representative after being faced with the INNOV8’s features from half of Samsung’s team at the booth, it was time to put the two flagships to the test.
In terms of features, the INNOV8 is undoubtedly the world’s best mobile phone, with a 8 megapixel camera that has autofocus, smile and blink detection, and dual LED flash; 16GB of internal memory with support for external memory through a microSD memory card; GPS; WiFi; HSDPA; and Symbian OS9.3 with S60 v3 Feature Pack 2 software platform which allows computer-like usage. The C905 features the 8 megapixel camera that has autofocus and xenon flash; HSDPA; WiFi; and GPS.

Nokia N95 8GB Review: Design
Written by Edward "ILikeMyNok" Umana on October 23, 2008 – 12:04 am
The NSeries line of devices has been always criticized by their plastic-like and cheap build quality, while the ESeries range has enjoyed of higher quality materials and an overall excellent build quality.
ESeries devices often include some metal component on their exterior, NSeries usually don’t and the reason for that is still unknown. The metal components is not the only bad point, the adjustment of the device and the build quality is more solid on the ESeries range than on the NSeries range. I had a E90 few months ago, even with that complex form factor, the device is solid and there is no such thing as creaky panels, wobbly parts, and so on.

Nokia N95 8GB Review - Introduction
Written by Edward "ILikeMyNok" Umana on October 18, 2008 – 2:43 am
The most popular phone among Nokia’s Portfolio is undoubtedly the N95 Classic (N95-1). It set a milestone in the mobile industry and opened the door of innovation.
Eight months later Nokia launched a second version of the Original N95, the N95 8GB. This new version included improvements over the N95 Classic and added new features on the long list of the first N95.
Although he N95 8GB is supposed to be better in terms of specifications, Nokia made sure there were some differences between them, so that the N95 Classic did not loose sales. To name a few, the camera is better in the Original N95 but the horrible battery life in it is beaten by the much long lasting battery on the N95 8GB. Although the larger battery capacity on the N95 8GB might sound better, this addition compromised the camera lens cover which did not have space with a physically bigger battery. Many people still go for the N95 Classic because of its lens cover protector, which assures peace of mind as your pictures won’t come defective owing to the small potential scratch over the N95 9GB’s unprotected lens.

Sony Ericsson BeiBei G702 review
Written by Meraj Chhaya on October 13, 2008 – 6:08 pm
BeiBei is one of the phones that were leaked from Sony Ericsson’s portfolio of cancelled phones. Few prototypes were actually made available, and the one used for this review, was bought from eBay.
BeiBei was supposed to release under the name of G702, although its working name was P220i, and the release date was October. The device features HSDPA, WiFi, built-in A-GPS, a touchscreen, a 3.2 megapixel camera, 128MB of RAM, a 208MHz CPU, and runs on UIQ software platform.
The review concluded that the phone worked well, and didn’t need constant restart like otherwise speculated. The same goes to the software, which carries impressive components, such as the X-Pict Story slideshow and QuickOffice. Not everything was good news as the GPS took too long to lock, and the radio didn’t work. The device would be fully functional if the manufacturer paid attention to it, but for an unknown reason that will probably never be known to us, the phone was cancelled.
