What happened to the Apple iPhone Nano?

Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 18, 2008 – 1:30 am

The Apple iPhone Nano is back once again, and this time, there are no leaks or any concrete information, unlike what happened with the iPhone 3G. Are you waiting for Q4 to start teasing us Jobs?

DailyMobile, who revived the the rumour, doesn’t even have any clue of what they are talking about, they are believing in “suggestions”, taken from a JP Morgan analyst, who was reportedly fired due to the allegation:

One expert suggested the nano phone would have a touch wheel on the back and display on the front so that numbers would be dialled from behind.

It is quite likely to be released a nano version of the iPhone, if Apple didn’t have it their minds, they do now thanks to all of our “suggestions”. Nothing bad I guess, as long as the quality is slightly higher than the 3G version, I mean, we haven’t gotten any sighting of the iPhone 3G, but the comments there are evident of what’s going on.

The iPhone Nano is coming, and even the iPhone 3G knows that. Well, you could already skip the iPhone Nano and wait for the iPhone Shuffle, as you can see on the picture above.

Nokia N79 and N85 to debut Monday?

Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 15, 2008 – 8:24 pm

In UK, iGadget Life just received an email from a PR agency on behalf of Nokia, saying that they are invited to a online pre-launch of new two devices, ahead of the official launch.

I can’t see any information about it being N79, N85, or any NSeries for that matter, but those are the phones in speculation at the moment. It would be very strange for Nokia to make a sudden launch, ahead of the N96’s official retail date, and just after the N78’s retail release.

The N85 recently has gone through FCC approval. Which might point out soon announcement.

In my opinion, it has to be two other phones than NSeries or ESeries, but I wouldn’t know. Perhaps Nokia is trying to release all crap stock to make space for potential competitors against the Sony Ericsson C905 and Samsung iNNOV8. Who knows? I have’t gotten anything yet from Nokia’s PR company in South Africa, but if we have any news, which we should at 8am UK time Monday, we will post them here. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to set up my alarm.

HTC Dream G1 video & specs - 1st Android phone

Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 13, 2008 – 11:29 pm

The first Google Android prototype was showcased by Google itself at the I/O conference. Some stated that it was the HTC Dream, but we don’t believe Google will tease us so openly. The latest video of what is also being announced as the HTC Dream shows the same phone that was shown at the conference.

The so-called HTC Dream has a QWERTY slide-out keyboard, just like the HTC Touch Pro, and the video also shows that auto-rotation is quite responsive. There have been other news, such as the disclosure of the model name of the HTC Dream, it’s G1, which probably stands for Google 1, which actually sounds like a prototype codename.

Here are the features which we found:

  • 5×3″ touchscreen (yeah, right…)
  • 3G connectivity
  • 3 megapixel camera
  • Release date: 17 September (what about the HTC Touch Pro?)

Some stuff just doesn’t make sense, but we will have to wait and see…The video after the jump.

BlackBerry Thunder is 9530, release date 13/10

Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 13, 2008 – 2:21 am

In what apparently seems to be like a confirmation of the Thunder name, BGR reports that the BlackBerry Thunder’s release date is the 13th of October, and that it’s name will fall under the 9500 series, as the 9530 model name.

The BlackBerry Thunder’s haptic screen was reportedly very fragile, we hope that it has been fixed, otherwise it will have to be delayed once again. This iPhone rival will release on Vodafone and Verizon, and will feature a chip which supports the following networks: GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, 1xEV-DO rev.0, HSPA. There are not many specifications available, and those which are, are always conflicted.

Google Android is really delayed to 2009!

Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 10, 2008 – 2:31 am

According to various reports, Google Android supporting devices will be delayed, and all because of HTC. If you remember well, we were the first to announce that HTC is going to release Google Android running devices by Q4 this year, and  very recently, HTC’s CEO reconfirmed that. Now it seems that there has been a problem and the date is drawn back to Q1 2009.

The following rumours have risen of HTC: the company is “having structural problems to incorporate Google’s demanded feature set”; HTC is “demanding a guaranteed minimum revenue surety from Google”. An analyst from Global Equities Research has concluded that maybe HTC thinks that there will not be enough demand for the so-called Google Phone.

We doubt that HTC will drop out at this stage, but they might remove the priority of the upcoming Android device, which is rumoured to be the HTC Dream. They will surely present it by Q4, just to keep up with the dates, but release it much later, just like Nokia did with the N96. This is all speculation, and it’s based on the rumours going around, so don’t rely on this expectation.
