You might have read the recent rumour that Sony Ericsson is going to make a new announcement by next week. We speculated over the release of the devices codenamed Remi and Hicaru, but here we have a slider leaked with the name of G705.

The Sony Ericsson G705 features a 3 megapixel camera, built-in GPS, WiFi, a M2 memory card slot, and has 128MB of internal memory. Geo-tagging is included in the software.

What impressed me most on the K850i’s software is that it multitasks. It doesn’t run on a smartphone Operating System, but Sony Ericsson endeavoured to make its Cybershot different to every other camera-feature-only phone by implementing some decent software. Not that it beats the Nokia N82, but then again, the N82 is a fully-fledged smartphone, which leads us to the discussion of what really is a smartphone. Is it just a device that multitasks? Is it a device that provides internal APIs and allows its use? Or is the K850i a smartphone? We will not consider it a smartphone in our review, but will rather just treat as a non-smartphone, camera-feature-only phone.

The long-awaited Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is scheduled to be released in Europe on the 13th of October, a date which coincides with the upcoming launch of the HTC Touch Pro and matches the UK network 3’s release date of Q4, as reported by SMS Text News.

The Xperia X1 has a 3″ display with 800 x 480 pixels of resolution, 400 MB internal memory, 256MB RAM, 512MB storage memory, runs on a Qualcomm MSM7200 528MHz processor, has HSDPA 7.2mbps on the connectivity side, as well as WLAN and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, and built-in A-GPS. There is a 3.2 megapixel camera, an acceleremoter (motion sensor), and the device runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.

The Sony Ericsson K850i has one of the most attractive designs we’ve ever seen, with a lot of details and sleek colours. The box layout and presentation are also worth to notice and contribute to the general design of this device.

The camera is obviously the main focus of the K850i, so a design was necessary so that the phone resembled a camera, but at the same time looked as a a powerful multimedia phone. This affected placement of ports and keys. The K850i surely had more than we expected, and in this case, you can judge a book by its cover, just because the cover is wonderful.

These are just rumours, and we are completely unaware of what these rumours mean. All we know is that there might be a Sony Ericsson announcement by next week, which isn’t very likely as the company just released three Walkman phones. All we can do is wait and see what happens.

The only phones on which we could speculate on were the P5, codename Paris, and Beibei, but these apparently have been cancelled. The Remi and Hicaru are the phones that will probably be showcased at this possible event.
