Sony Ericsson K850i review - PC Suite
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 21, 2008 – 11:05 pm
The Sony Ericsson K850i Cyber-shot comes with both a PC Suite and a Media Manager application.
As it is usual, the application allows connection via Infrared, Bluetooth, and USB cable. Usually applications for a phone to be installed on a computer include interaction that is usually needed to complete the phone’s capability.
On the K850i, you can backup, synchronise, use the phone or the computer for internet connection, edit and transmit files, messages, contacts, calendar entries, but also manage all your multimedia, be it photos, videos, or audio, which Sony itself is already experienced at.
As an added bonus, the application self-updates, which is a great way to cover flaws.

LG, Samsung, HTC, SE win EISA awards
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 21, 2008 – 12:59 am
The European Imaging and Sound Association held an awards ceremony, where usually Nokia is always present. This time the three companies mentioned in title took most of the awards.
LG Electronics phones won’t win any prize, but an MP3 player, the LG - T80, and a home theathre system, LG XH-TK953TV, will be crowned the best in their category.
HTC takes the award for the Touch Diamond in the European smart phone category, as it’s one of the “hottest Windows Mobile devices of 2008″.
The Samsung SGH-G810 stole the crown from Nokia, and we can see that many Samsung S60 devices will do the same in the future, such as the upcoming INNOV8. The G810 was the preferred European photo phone by the association. What I’ve seen clearly from its younger brother G800, the quality is terrible, so I trust the G810’s camera is much different than the one from the G800.
Finally the Sony Ericsson W980 took the European music phone award. It does have quite a sleek design, and is regarded as the best Walkman phone from Sony Ericsson yet released.
I am impressed that the N82 and N96 didn’t win any award, as their specifications are quite advanced.

Sony Ericsson K850i review – Connectivity
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 20, 2008 – 12:59 am
As any up-to-date mobile phone, the K850i has Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, HSDPA, and a almost-computer-like web browser. What it lacks of is WiFi, which could put it on top of the rankings.
We’ll solely look at the web browser, which although not being as advanced as S60 browser or Opera 9.5, it provides the necessary usage, and the only thing that is really missing is FlashLite 3, so that we can view real flash content, and videos from YouTube on the desktop version.
Oh, and a larger display would be appreciated. Don’t forget about the WiFi!

N82 vs N95 vs K850i vs G800 camera shoot-out
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 17, 2008 – 11:46 pm
The camera is the reason why you are probably reading this comparison review. You should already know which phone has the best camera of them all, as it won the TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) award this year. The N82, G800, and K850i have Xenon flash, while the N95 has a LED flash. The G800 is the only one which has a 3x optical zoom, which makes it capable of getting the top place just for the additional feature. The N95 and N82 both have geo-tagging capability.

Zeemote signs Nokia and Sony Ericsson
Written by Meraj Chhaya on August 15, 2008 – 9:04 pm
Zeemote’s JS1 Bluetooth mobile gaming controller has attracted 15 of top publishers in Europe, according to the company. The JS1 was announced last week in Netherlands, and at the next week’s Games Convention show in Leipzig, the company will showcase the controller’s use with Nokia NGage supported phones.
Nokia will also advertise the Bluetooth joystick in its online and offline media channels, besides including it with mobile phones.
Sony Ericsson has announced that it will bundle the joystick for free with its W760i Walkman phone for free, and one of the games to play it with is Tomb Raider Anniversary, which is one of the two games included in the phone. The offer will only be available until the end of October, but Zeemote worldwide sales VP Jim Adams says that this is the first of many deals.
