Google has updated Google Maps Mobile to locate a more accurate position for a person depending on cell tower triangulation. The web services company has also implemented the controversial Street View on the application.
Previously, My Locations used to calculate the coordinates of a person, by referring to any three cell towers, but today it calculates with the closest ones, which means that you can have a more accurate position if you're surrounded by more towers, such as in cities, unlike true GPS receivers, which have less accuracy in cities due to high-rise buildings.
Street View enables users to view and virtually navigate through a street in cities where Google's team has gathered pictures from. The service has been deemed controversial as it can infringe one's privacy.
