When I had my hands-on the HTC Touch Diamond I didn't notice this, and it wasn't mentioned anywhere, and that is why it's such a big deal. Most surprisingly, we are not talking about the display, it's the buttons below that act as a multi-touch pad!
I'm not sure if this will work for both the CDMA and GSM versions, and if it's not bogus. I hope the API gets released, but most importantly, that it's true!

I have recently bought an HTC Touch Diamond from http://www.pressdigital.com.au/ , I should say it is an amazing device and completely worth buying it.
I am using it for a month now and feel handicapped without it.
I would highly recommend this product.
