WATERLOO, Canada - Media Sync is a program that is available with BlackBerry devices to synchronize media files from PC or MAC, with the smartphone.
Media Sync 2.0 works well, but the interface is not what one would expect. Very simple, one menu, check off the items you would like to sync. Press the “go” button and moments later the media is on the smartphone.
Media Sync 3.0 has a more graphic user interface, shows memory usage on the device media card, and gives the user the same choices to sync to the device. The most noticeable difference is the graphic that comes up when the user first connects the device. It is very clear that the device is connected and transferring data. Shortly after that, a window pops up with the connection details and some settings for the device, how much memory to reserve on the card, for example. Once that menu is cleared, the sync menu comes up, with two tabs, music and pictures. This looks similar to the previous version, so the learning curve should be very short. Make the selections and press the sync button. The user also has the option of importing album art for the music on file.
The transfer process with iTunes took about 10 minutes, with a very clear progress bar across the top of the window. Overall, this update improved the user interface over the previous version, other than that, the operation and performance are the same.
