In an interview, Mark Sergio, general manager of HTC Philippines, said that the manufacturer is expecting to ship Android-based phones to the country by early 2009, but noted that the phones may not only be the Dream G1, a sign that more Android-based devices could be released soon by the company.
Philippines hasn't seen the G1 yet, the most recent HTC devices in the country are the Touch HD, Touch Viva, and Touch 3G. When the Android-based device is launched in Philippines, HTC might follow a single-operator-subsidized model, such as what it did with T-Mobile, according to Sergio.
The approach to the Android-based phones in the country were sparked by the interest of consumers, who phoned HTC inquiring about the G1.
