Motorola seems to have noticed that the world needs more music dedicated phones, so it released the U9, an addition their Mobile World Congress line-up.

The U9 is rather focused on the music features in terms of software and hardware, rather than the general hardware, that's why we don't see 3G, which would be crucial to download music, or a better camera, the built-in one is 2 megapixels and it supports video recording.

The display is 2” in size and has QVGA resolution. There's an external display with 128 x 160 pixels and it's an OLED display.

On the music side, unfortunately there is no 3.5mm jack, but there is Windows Media Player 11, touch sensitive music keys, a microSD slot (the internal memory is only 25MB), a connection to 200 online stores which strangely needs a PC connection.

It seems that the U9 isn't much of a competitor, and Sony Ericsson Walkman Series is still the preferred choice.
