Samsung's G800 was also very respected as its competitors have less features on the book than the G800.

The Nokia N93 has a 3.2 megapixel camera, it's covered by a Carl Zeiss Optics lens, has LED flash, with a 4.5mm focal length, F-Stop/Aperture f/3.3, maximum capture resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, and 3x optical zoom.

The Samsung SGH-G800 has a 5 megapixel camera, Xenon flash, maximum resolution of 2560?1920 pixels, and 3x optical zoom.

Now as you should know, more megapixels don't necessarily mean better quality. You also need a good lens, a good image processing algorithm, and the camera sensor itself needs to be good as well.

For the image comparisons, I took them in their maximum possible resolutions, and then resized them to 1280x768. Please click on the pictures to make them larger, otherwise you won't understand what's going on.

You might find the title strange after comparing the first set of pictures. As you can see, the G800's camera sensor is placed further in front than the N93, therefore it looks like the G800 is closer to the objects, while it's at the same distance as the N93.

The G800 seems to have rendered the light much better, especially in those plants right in front of it. The N93 completely forgets to light up the environment and presents a dark image. So why did I say that the N93 beats it? Well, check the next picture.

Now this image contrasts the image above. It seems that the lighting was actually very correct, on the N93's capture and especially the focus, as you can see with all the trees in the background that have much more detail on them.

The colour is actually much better as well and realistic, it's hard to believe that the G800 is so far away. So I was right, the N93 beats the G800 when it comes to optical zoom testing, but not general photography without the zoom.

It's a pity we don't see more Nokia phones with optical zoom. Moving parts can be damaging to a phone, so atleast a fitting cover would be welcome on this phone, as well as proper lenses.
