SCHAUMBURG and BELLEVUE, USA - Motorola has certified a new Android-based smartphone with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).
The manufacturer did reveal that it will combat its financial issues by joining the Google Android hype. Its Droid smartphone, being marketed by Verizon, is seen as a fierce competitor to the Apple iPhone, marketed by AT&T.
The latest handset is known as the Motorola MB501, and its registration details state that it will retail in North and South America, even though it supports quadband GSM and WCDMA bands, compatible with most regions of the world.
The device also features a touchscreen display with 320x480 pixels in resolution, a Qualcomm MSM7200A processor at 528MHz, a QWERTY keyboard, and obviously, Bluetooth.
Unlike the Droid, the MB501 will run on the earlier 1.5 version of Google's open-source operating system.
Motorola also revealed in the device's registration that it is a "Bluetooth enabled GSM smart phone brimming with rich user experience and connectivity to meet the life style of today’s active, connected and tech savvy consumer", further revealing its confidence in this upcoming handset.
