Nokia Adds Three More Devices to its Summer Line-up

anim 9815725a 1c3c 7f54 2190 e5d83c69f635 Nokia Adds Three More Devices to its Summer Line upSINGAPORE - Nokia unveiled its latest additions to its already impressive summer line-up of mobile devices at the ongoing Nokia Connection 2009, an annual Nokia conference being held in Singapore.

While the Nokia 5530 was unveiled in an online contest titled "Pass the Parcel"; the other two devices, Nokia E72 and Nokia 3710 were announced at the conference yesterday.

The Nokia E72 is an update to Nokia's highly-succesful Eseries QWERTY  model, E71, with updates in both hardware and software departments. The Nokia 5530 follows the lines of another successful Nokia phone under the XpressMusic branding, 5800, with its touchscreen and S60 5th-edition OS. Lastly, the Nokia 3710 is targeted at the fashion conscious consumer with its unique blend of eye-catching design and mobile functionality.

With the E72, Nokia is sticking to the same form factor and specification of its predecessor, E71, and adds new features, such as  the 3.5 mm audiovisual jack, a 5 megapixel camera, HSUPA (up to 2mbps) and faster HSDPA (Up to 10mbps), two triband  UMTS versions (850/1900/2100 Mhz and 900/1900/2100 Mhz), along with an optical navigation key, electronic compass for an enhanced GPS navigation experience, and in the software department, the E72 comes pre-loaded with the latest version of Quickoffice with support for Microsoft Office 2007, one touch configuration for several IM clients (Yahoo, Gmail, Windows Live, Ovi, etc.), and onboard clients for Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler.

Some of the features passed on from the E71 are the 2.4" screen with QVGA resolution, the microSD memory card slot, FM radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, quadband GSM, and USB connectivity. At 114 x 58 x 10 mm dimensions, the E72 retains the same thickness as its predecessor, even with the added features.

Priced at €350 (before taxes and subsidies), the Nokia E72 will start shipping in third quarter of 2009.

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is Nokia's third S60 5th-edition-based device following on the lines of Nokia's highly-succesful 5800Xpress Music.

In its latest XpressMusic device Nokia is offering a 2.9" touchscreen with tactile feedback, quadband GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz), a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, EDGE, a 3.5mm headphone jack, it and comes pre-loaded with a 4GB hot-swappable microSD memory card.

The model sports a stainless steel frame, adding to the stability and the astheticity of the device. The device lacks GPS and 3G connectivity unlike the 5800; and at 104x49x13mm dimensions, the 5530 is marginally sleeker than the 5800

.

Nokia has redesigned its home screen for the 5530. The contacts bar is now referred to as a carousel bar with support for up to 20 contacts, and the shortcuts bar has been moved to the bottom of the screen. The homescreen also sports a mini music-player. There is no widget support on the homescreen, unlike on the Nokia N97.

Priced at €199 (before taxes and subsidies), the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic will start shipping in the third quarter of 2009.

With the 3710, Nokia is targetting the fashion-conscious consumer looking for a good-looking, intuitive, and easy-to-use handset.

The specifications of Nokia 3710 include quadband GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz), triband UMTS (850/1900/2100MHz), A-GPS, a 2.2" internal TFT screen with QVGA resolution capable of rendering 16M colours, a monochrome external TFT screen with a resolution of 128x160 pixels, Bluetooth, USB connectivity, 70MB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot (expandable up to 8GB), a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash and a secondary VGA camera for video calls, and FM radio.

The main USP of Nokia 5710 is its all-new user interface that boasts of extreme simplicity without compromising on mobile functionality. Along with visually simple and intuitive menus, the photo gallery has also been redesigned to keep photos organized, create slide shows or albums, and assign photos to contacts.

Taking advantage of A-GPS, several location based services offered by the Ovi Store and Nokia Maps will be provided on 3710, making the phone highly-customizable to best suit individual needs, be it social networking or pedestrian navigation.

Priced at €140(before taxes and subsidies), the Nokia 3710 will start shipping in the fourth quarter of 2009.
