bp 6m battery Nokia affected by new faulty battery caseNokia has once again been involved in a faulty battery case, this time involving the BP-6M batteries. The batteries might swell up, and increase their own size by a severe amount.

If you own the following devices: Nokia 3250 XpressMusic, Nokia 6151, Nokia 6233, Nokia 6234, Nokia 6280, Nokia 6288, Nokia 9300, Nokia 9300i, Nokia N73, Nokia N73 Music Edition or Nokia N77, you might want to check every now and then if you are a victim to this incident. Nokia care centres are offering free batteries in exchange to faulty (original) ones.

BL-5C batteries were suffering from another problem which led to several replacements. The batteries would heat up and explode in some cases.

The swelling is common in Lithium-ion batteries, after a couple of years. The batteries tend to just increase their size, even if unused. This does not pose a risk to the owner, but just makes it difficult to close the back cover.

Well it doesn't sound good, If Nokia retailers or care centres exchange these faulty batteries for free that's good. You say the swelling is common and don't pose any risk for a user but batteries heating up and explode, oh sounds not so healthy. I had a battery heating up extremely warm after just 30 seconds but according to the care centres it was the phone that was malfunction.
