Samsung Galaxy S i9000 High End Samsung i9000 Galaxy S Features 4 Display, Google AndroidCTIA Wireless 2010, LAS VEGAS, USA - Samsung has unveiled its latest high-end Google Android smartphone, placing itself right at the top of the competition. The Samsung Galaxy S i9000 brings a large 4" Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 1GHz processor, as well as other advanced components.

The device, also known as the Samsung GT-i9000, will be available in Europe, North America, Latin America, Australia, and Asia. A version of the Galaxy S incorporating a mobile TV module should be made available for release in Samsung's home country South Korea.

Even though the display might make the Galaxy S sound as if it is too large, in reality it measures 64.2 x 122.4 x 9.9mm only and weighs 118g only.

The 4" display, based on the latest technology from Samsung, enabling even more vivid colours, while being power efficient and small in size, will be used to playback the HD videos recorded by the built-in 5 megapixel camera, which also brings autofocus, stop motion capability, and smile recognition.

The Samsung Galaxy S also has GPS connectivity, motion and proximity sensors, a digital compass, and will be available in two versions: one with 16GB built-in memory, and the other with 8GB - both will support an external microSD memory card.

In terms of connectivity, the i9000 ranks well with HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/b and Bluetooth. It supports tri-band HSPA frequencies, and quad-band GSM frequencies.

Samsung has pre-loaded additional programs with Google Android 2.1: Daily Briefing, with access to stocks, news, weather and a scheduler; a DLNA media browser; a program that enables the Galaxy S to be used as a digital photo frame, clock, calendar or music station; Swype keyboard for fast text input; apps to edit office documents; and an alarm app with natural sounds.
