android Scores of HTC Google Android 2.1 Devices LeakedGLOBAL - Taiwanese handset manufacturer and Google Android segment leader, HTC, may not have any Android 2.0 devices to its credit as of now, but the manufacturer is now known to be working on several Android 2.1 smartphones, codenames of which have been revealed in a recently leaked Android 2.1 ROM for the HTC Hero.

The list of codenames found in the ROM include the Bahamas, Bravo, DesireC, Dragon, Dream, Espresso, Halo, HeroCT, HeroC, Hero, Huangshan, Incredible, Legend, Liberty, Memphis, Paradise, PassionC, Passion, Sapphire, and Supersonic. It can be seen that the list contains some known models such as the Dream (T-Mobile G1), Sapphire (T-Mobile G2), Desire (Verizon Eris) and the Hero, giving some authenticity to the leaked list.

Motorola, which took the credit of launching the first Android 2.0 handset in Droid, has been stealing the limelight from HTC, who were the pioneers in Android devices with the first and also the highest number of Android models in market. However, going by the recent leak, HTC seems to be working on a slew of Android 2.1 devices to take on the competition it is facing in this segment.

With HTC Sense UI taking the honours of being one of the better UIs for smartphones today, the manufacturer may just replicate the market success of the Hero with its subsequent models.
