BARCELONA, Spain - Sony Ericsson is presenting many Walkman mobile phones at its booth at the Mobile World Congress, but the most hyped mobile phone of them all, the 12 megapixel camera-phone codenamed Idou, is not present.
Among the ones which are available to examine, is the freshly-announced Sony Ericsson W995 Walkman, an eight-megapixel music phone which promises to up the competition, and clearly, up the megapixel count on mobile phones. The W995 supports high quality video, possibly close to HD, and is said to have powerful stereo speakers. Technical information is not currently available.
The W508 clamshell phone incorporates shake control, one of the usual characteristics of Walkman phones nowadays, and it has TrackID for music recognition, HSDPA, interchangeable covers, a 3.2 megapixel camera, gesture control, and the SensMe technology, for "mood-based track selection". This mobile phone has been discussed in a past article. The W508 comes with a 1GB memory card only.
The W705 slider features DLNA-certified Wi-Fi, with a connection being possible in three clicks, according to the company; as well as shake control and SensMe technology. The phone comes with a 3.2 megapixel, and 4GB memory card, which can store up to 3900 tracks.
The Sony Ericsson W595 Walkman phone allows one to share music using multiple headsets, and as usual, also has shake control. The phone has a 3.2 megapixel camera, and brings a 2GB memory card.
The Sony Ericsson W715 Walkman is an exclusive for Vodafone, just like the W705, also allows Wi-Fi connection in three clicks. It features shake control, A-GPS which uses Google Maps for Mobile, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and desktop search for music.
The unveiling of the 12 megapixel camera-phone is expected to follow during the event.
