The multitasking enabled software with little useful applications scattered around proved to be very interesting and gave a new meaning to mobile phone use, especially to me as I am not very familiar with Sony Ericsson phones.

The multimedia features of the Cyber-shot phone are simple but satisfactory. There isn't anything really missing, although a larger display would be welcome. The latest bet from Sony Ericsson in the PlayNow arena, which will offer audio tracks from famous record labels will be a healthy and important addition to the multimedia capabilities of these phones.

In  terms of connectivity, the K850i is missing WiFi, although its super fast Bluetooth, HSDPA, and advanced web browser compensate the loss. What is really felt left out is FlashLite 3 for flash video playback.

The phone's PC Suite does exactly one would need in a computer to mobile phone relation, although a mistake was not including free movie conversion for playback on the device. Nevertheless the interface is simple and easy to use, and most common tasks can be conducted without any inconvenience.

Lastly, the camera behaves very well on the K850i, and it does make it an excellent Cyber-shot with all qualities you would expect in such a phone camera. The camera shots equal those of its competitors, and its software modes sometimes even surpass them.

Advantages: light candybar form factor that feels good to the hand; easy to type keys; attractive touch keys; easy-to-use SIM card and memory card slot; electronic camera lens cover; multitasking enabled software; motion gaming; TrackID, multimedia editors; 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, Xenon flash, advanced modes.

Disadvantages: small display; no USB port; IMEI not visible; speaker at the back; Not an advanced Operating System; Can't select 3G only as default network; no FlashLite 3; no WiFi; PC Suite charges to convert movies; no sharpness setting on camera.

Rating: 8.6/10
