Sony Ericsson Xperia X2LONDON, UK and STOCKHOLM, Sweden and REDMOND, USA - Yet another rumour has made its way onto the blogosphere, this time, suggesting that Sony Ericsson has also decided to launch a Windows Mobile-based flagship smartphones.

It is not clear whether the company prefers S60, Windows Mobile, or Google Android - an Android-based phone is to debut later this year, according to rumours - but it did send out a strong message by announcing the 12 megapixel camera-phone Idou, which is based on the S60 platform.

The XPERIA line is the symbol of Sony Ericsson high-end devices. The first handset - the X1 - does run on Windows Mobile, but there is no confirmation of whether the same will happen to the phone next-in-line - or whether there will be a next-in-line at all.

LBS-company Skyhook's CEO Ted Morgan said in an interview to Gigaom that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 uses Google's geolocation data. This could be well be an error, or assumption, but it could also be a slip of the tongue.

Sony Ericsson hasn't revealed any detail regarding a possible X2, or even the model number of the Idou.
