Garmin joined the mobile market in another perspective, by launching a mobile phone which is mostly a GPS than anything else. Such a phone would be mostly useful as a carphone.

The Garmin Nuviphone has the following features:

  • GPS (duh)
  • 3 megapixel camera with autofocus
  • Quad-Band GSM
  • Tri-Band HSDPA
  • Bluetooth
  • 3.5" touchscreen display (hopefully a decent resolution)

As you can see in the picture, the phone needs some cosmetic touches, it looks too bulky, and it looks only suitable for a GPS car.

Samsung’s own Touch UI is Instinct UI

Written by Meraj Chhaya on April 3, 2008 – 4:11 pm

Samsung rarely displays S60 phones, and S60 Touch UI might not be a success on their side, so this time they opted for Instinct UI.
From the video, the device looks rather small, or maybe Chris Ziegler from Engadget has gigantic fingers.

What we can clearly see is the web browser, and the usual finger-scrolling that we saw in devices such as Apple iPhone and Nokia N800. The main options on the sides are the Zoom buttons, but what I really wanted to see is the keyboard, but I believe we will be in for more videos and adverts once it launches itself into the market.
