HTC Dream G1 being released as we speak
Written by Meraj Chhaya on September 23, 2008 – 4:56 pm
T-Mobile is holding a press conference in New York where it is releasing the HTC Dream G1, one of the most leaked mobile phones of the moment. The press release hasn't been received by us, but Engadget has already got their hands-on, as pictured on the left.
Few press pictures were leaked earlier on, which is quite embarassing as it's the event day, as well as few specifications, which were known to us. The disappointment is that there is no Stereo Bluetooth or video capture.
T-Mobile has launched their G1 website, but few features are closed for the moment, and will open only after the press conference. Earlier on, these were open, and few images were leaked. Now you can spot a video demonstrating the Dream G1.
A press release was issued for Amazon, which states that the company's MP3 store will be loaded on the HTC Dream G1 with 6 million DRM-free songs, a strategy which comes close to Nokia's Comes with Music, but the tracks itself won't be free. Courtesy of Engadget.
There are also rumours that the G1 will come with free GMail access, with no need of a data plan from T-Mobile's side, but all these will be clarified later when the press release is issued.

HTC Dream G1 first live hands-on, T-Mobile leak
Written by Meraj Chhaya on September 20, 2008 – 12:48 am
There are few reasons why we would post at half past midnight of Saturday, 30 minutes into the weekend. One of them is because we love our readers, second is because we have spotted the first ever hands-on HTC Dream G1, the first Google Android powered mobile phone.
The device doesn't look as bad as it did in previous leaked images, and it does surely have a huge display. The keys look very comfortable as well. I am curious of how the device would look in black, but I guess I'm asking too much for the time being.
We can't see much of the user interface, or anything else for that matter, on the display as there is a large amount of glare and reflection from trees.
If that wasn't enough, T-Mobile USA's customer website has been advertising the G1, but it is linked to a non-existent page, although do monitor it in case it goes up in the future.
The price of the Dream has been rumoured to be around US$200, similar to that of the iPhone 3G, and its announcement should be on the 23rd of September, next week Tuesday.
Earlier this week Google had partially leaked the phone at the Google Developers Day 2008 in London. The speaker did confirm that there were tape coverings over the brand, and we are very sure that the device shown at the presentation was the HTC Dream.
The HTC Dream G1 is rumoured to feature a 528Mhz Qualcomm 7201 processor, 128MB of RAM, 3.1 megapixel camera, a trackball, but only a 1GB microSD memory card is included on the box.
