i-mate Ultimate 6150 ugly but powerful

imateult615000zz4 i-mate Ultimate 6150 ugly but powerful

I really think that is an ugly phone, and the worst thing about it, it's really a bulky slider.

In specifications terms, the i-mate is similar to all phones released on Mobile World Congress, this is the last one in their line-up, after this I will move onto two Nokias that I didn't report yet on.

The display is a massive 2.8" with VGA resolution, and it's a touchscreen with handwriting recognition, although there is a numeric keypad beneath the slide.

Connectivity is never a disadvantage in i-mates, there is HSDPA tri-band, EDGE on Quad-band, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/e/i, this device has e and i standards just like the Ultimate 8150. There is also Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP support.

The phone is powered by Intel Bulverde 520 MHz processor, and has 128MB of RAM. To support this, Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional was used, but I'm wondering why the latest version, 6.1 wasn't used in any of the released i-mates.

There is a 2 megapixel camera, a secondary VGA camera for video calls, and a TV-out which should be in VGA resolution.

i-mate Ultimate 8150 shows its power

Written by Meraj Chhaya on February 17, 2008 – 2:52 pm

imateult815000ft9 i-mate Ultimate 8150 shows its power

If there is one powerful smartphone candybar available out there, is surely this 8150. Boasting a crazy XScale PXA 270, 520 MHz processor with 128MB of RAM, powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional Operating System.

The 2.6" display has a great VGA resolution, it's touchscreen and supports handwriting recognition.

On the connectivity side, HSDPA is Triband, sitting on 850 / 1900 / 2100 frequencies, and there is Quad-band EDGE. As usual on the latest devices released by i-mate, the 8150 has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/e/i, as you see, it supports e and i standards on this model. Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP support is a must, and a miniUSB port has been added.

TV-out should be in VGA resolution, for my content. The only downside seems to be the 2 megapixel camera, but this is a business phone and not multimedia orientated.

iMate Ultimate 8502 a competitive smartphone

Written by Meraj Chhaya on February 17, 2008 – 2:23 pm

This device is surely lower in potential compared to the previous one, but it lives up to the smartphone range.

That QWERTY really seems a bit tight, and I don't know if my fingers, or anyone's fingers for that matter, would be able to type comfortably in it.

The connectivity package is once again present, having HSDPA in three bands, 850 / 1900 / 2100, and a Quad Band EDGE connectivity. There is WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP support, and also a GPS receiver built-in.

The resolution on the 2.6" display isn't very satisfying, it's only QVGA. There is a 360 degree Jog-Wheel, which I presume is the same that we find on the bulky Sony Ericsson smartphones such as P910.

There's a simple 2 megapixel camera with flash, and powering the device is a Qualcomm MSM 7200 400 MHz processor with 128MB of RAM, and powering that, is a Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional Operating System.

There is also a TV-out, but I hope the output resolution isn't QVGA.

iMate at Mobile World Congress, Ultimate 9502 a Sidekick imitation

Written by Meraj Chhaya on February 17, 2008 – 1:46 pm

ultimate95021iq6 iMate at Mobile World Congress, Ultimate 9502 a Sidekick imitation

Boy, didn't I miss i-mates! Really long time I don't see them...last time I got my hands on a new device was 2 years ago, or so!

Well let's get it on with the device...I said it's a sidekick copy due to the form factor, it pushes up just like, but in terms of specs, it's different, and we must know that an i-mate is always an i-mate.

Specifications is one thing that really made me happy and looking forward to this device. A magnificent VGA resolution on a 2.8" touchscreen is the most that we can which for, although there could have been more colours and certainly multi-touch, but I guess i-mate isn't interested in that, as they are more of business phones rather than multimedia gadgets.

There is a full connectivity bundle, from HSDPA, to quad band, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, and even a GPS receiver built-in.

Besides the whole connectivity bundle, there is still a TV-out, which should be the same high-resolution output that we find in HTC. On the imaging side we can find an acceptable 3.2 megapixel camera, with a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

The whole system is powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional and the expected release date isn't announced yet.
