Qualcomm joins Android craze, LiMo fights back

limo_foundation-vs-google-android-300x128 Qualcomm joins Android craze, LiMo fights backQualcomm is part of the Open Handset Alliance, which supports the Google Android platform. Sanjay Jha, when Qualcomm's CEO, confirmed that a larger number of Android phones with run on Qualcomm chips.

Recently there was an outbreak of information regarding the potential Google Android phone dubbed HTC Dream G1, which will apparently release on T-Mobile in September.

On the other side of the road, LiMo has already launched seven phones running on its platform, for Motorola, NEC, and Panasonic:

  • Motorola MOTOZINE ZN5
  • NEC FOMA N906i
  • NEC FOMA N906i?
  • NEC FOMA N906iL
  • NEC FOMA N706
  • Panasonic FOMA P906i
  • Panasonic FOMA P706i?

There are already 21 Linux based mobile phones pertaining to LiMo, many with HSDPA, GPS, and mobile TV, which means that they are fully-fledged smartphones that are up to today's standard.
