s60manufacturers Top ten must have applications for S60 phones

Mark Guim from The Nokia Blog has persuaded us users to compile a list of our top ten must have, or the applications that we first install in our S60 phones. I haven’t written mine yet, but you most probably remember my N95 must have applications article (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3), I didn’t finish the series as I kept on installing more and more programs and the list would go on forever. However check below the blogs of people who have compiled their favourite applications list, and also let us know which one are your favourites!

If you have any more links let me know, and do not forget to tell us which ones are your favourites!

I’m not giving away free licences, but Ricky at Symbian-Guru and Zach at Symbian in Motion are. It’s truly a great program if you have a lot of hotspots available around you as it saves your money by not using a 3G or GPRS connection in case it finds one.

You should sign up for one of the contests, but for now try the free trial, only for S60 phones.

Samsung L870 runs on S60

Samsung L870 live pic leak

S60 on Samsung is something still small, we don’t see many adverts or any type of marketing of the Nokia platform on Samsung phones. I’d also be ashamed of carrying my rival’s name in heart, but Samsung could increase revenue by marketing it like it does to it’s Windows Mobile smartphones.
In an event in Holland, the phone was released containing the following features: Read more »

Control your phone with the camera!

Written by Meraj Chhaya on April 12, 2008 – 4:56 pm

So much for Nokmote and RockNScroll. EyeSight brings us EyePlay for S60. There is already an EyeToy for Sony’s Playstation 2, but this might not just be for games. We remember a patent with ultrasonic transducers which “heard” the user’s movements and converted them into controls.

If you read on the patent, you will see quite a lot of functions, and the most useful might be scrolling, OK-ing, and controlling the media player.

Stay with the video:

Samsung’s own Touch UI is Instinct UI

Written by Meraj Chhaya on April 3, 2008 – 4:11 pm

Samsung rarely displays S60 phones, and S60 Touch UI might not be a success on their side, so this time they opted for Instinct UI.
From the video, the device looks rather small, or maybe Chris Ziegler from Engadget has gigantic fingers.

What we can clearly see is the web browser, and the usual finger-scrolling that we saw in devices such as Apple iPhone and Nokia N800. The main options on the sides are the Zoom buttons, but what I really wanted to see is the keyboard, but I believe we will be in for more videos and adverts once it launches itself into the market.
