What really matters is the software, and in this case, the web browser. Still on the hardware part, perhaps the only downsides are the lack of TV-out and the extremely low Bluetooth transfer speeds.

The problem when browsing on the phone is the small screen that does not turn fullscreen. The NetFront 3.4 browser has very useful functionality, but it does not play Flash videos, which is not surprising as the G800 is far from being a smartphone.

Samsung SGH-G800 review - Multimedia

Written by Meraj Chhaya on October 11, 2008 – 11:36 pm

music-categories Samsung SGH-G800 review - MultimediaBesides the video editor and camera application, which are in different sections, the G800 provides a satisfactory music player and a Fun Club link almost everywhere in the phone.

The music player kept itself to simple functions, and it was to the point. No music store or podcasting applications here, as well as no visualizations. Besides the ability to shuffle and repeat, there are categories to help you organize your music, such as:

  • Recently played – very much needed in phones, thumbs up to Sammy for this inclusion!
  • Most played
  • Artists
  • Genres
  • Albums
  • Composers – never seen this category full, most of tracks never have this tag detailed

samsung-sgh-g800-unboxing-live-hands-on-review-38-300x192 Samsung SGH-G800 review – DesignSamsung is always successful on slider designs. They come out well, always original, and use fancy materials which give the phones their own look. Everything is always different: the camera cover, keypad, front housing, back housing, slots, and ports.

Samsung SGH-G800 review – Introduction

Written by Meraj Chhaya on September 29, 2008 – 3:33 pm

03072008674-800x6002-300x240 Samsung SGH-G800 review – IntroductionThis review comes awfully late, but it’s always good to revise on phones that did give their input in the market. The reason that the G800 was a market mover is due to its 5 megapixel camera. Samsung felt that it couldn’t stay out of the camera battle, and introduced not one, but two devices that would fight in this category.

Samsung was clever in implementing a feature that both Nokia and Sony Ericsson missed on theirs, which was the optical zoom. Now, the G800 presented one more component than any other camera-phone on the camera aspect. Surely this had to be the best 5 megapixel camera-phone in the market, but was it so?
