Samsung U800 metal phone unveiled

Samsung U800 live pic

Today was an important phones release day for Samsung, for some reason they can’t wait for any exhibition, and did not make use of CTIA.

The excess metal on the phone reminds me of the Nokia 8800, which had a body made of stainless steel and a thickness of 10mm only. This is of course a cosmetic feature, but when it comes to ergonomics, the keys are quite large which makes us think that the phone will feel as good as it looks.

In terms of features, the U900 contains: Read more »

Samsung soul slider has a tough look

It certainly does, but first of all let me hit the specs quickly:

A really really impressive 7.2mbps HSDPA suits the latest 3.5G speeds available on today’s networks, and it lives up to the Samsung promise of high-speed data capable phones, you can perhaps remember the U700 with 3.6mbps HSDPA, released in the same time of the N95, whereas the N95 only had 1.8mbps.

The display isn’t big deal, anything below the 2.8" mark is considered mediocre, although the poor QVGA resolution suits the display size.

Besides a camera with 5 megapixel, Power LED and autofocus, there isn’t anything special on the device, until I noticed that the music player can last 15 hours! That could be clever engineering or just a huge battery.

The phone still incorporates Magical Touch by DaCP™, and if it’s that bloody irritating touchpad from LG Chocolate, I advise them to take it off.

I leave you with a quote from Samsung:
At only 12.9mm thin, it is equipped with professional photographic functions including a 5 megapixel camera. Soul answers today’s customer needs as the perfect digital camera and multimedia mobile combined into one single device. Features such as face detection, image stabilizer and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), which are very up-to-date features even in today’s digital cameras, are also equipped in Soul.

Users can enjoy super-fast Internet access through the 7.2 Mbps High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) browser and share images or video taken with the phone. With 7.2 Mpbs HSDPA, users can also download songs at a faster speed compared to average 3G networks. Soul is also perfect for music listeners with features such as Music library navigation, digital power amplifier by ICEpower® technology by Bang & Olufsen ICEpower.

And obviously the specs:
