I might be slightly late to this, but as I was playing with a magnet "Nice" gave me at the Symbian Smartphones Show, I realized two things:
- Magnets are extremely addictive, do not ever play with them, you won't be able to stop;
- It unlocks your N95 at a 3cm distance, and turns its display to horizontal mode.
This is very simple: the N95 has a magnet which interacts with the slider when the top sliding platform is opened. In future touchscreen devices, the magnet could be included in the stylus, and be used to unlock the phone.

Yeah it's a very old bug in Nokia phones, not only slide. Once I tried an n93 in a phone cover that has a magnet to close, not only the magnet unlocks the device it also starts up the camera. So putting the N93 in that cover for a while empties the battery!
