Verizon Motorola Droid 2BASKING RIDGE, USA - Three new Verizon Wireless-heading smartphones have been leaked, just following the Motorola Droid X's launch: the Droid 2, BlackBerry Storm3, Curve3, as well as a tablet.

The Motorola Shadow was rumoured to be officially released as the Droid 2, but that was proven false when the US carrier announced the handset as the Droid X. There should, however, be a Droid 2 in order to continue the original Motorola line.

The Droid series were vital for both Motorola and Verizon to survive against AT&T and Apple's iPhone. These consist of Google Android smartphones, and now also count with the support of HTC, who has launched the Droid Eris in this same network.

The BlackBerry Storm3 is the long awaited upgrade of the Storm2, a smartphone characteristic for being of the second BlackBerry phone to have a touchscreen display, and for relying on the SurePress technology, which provides a real tactile feedback upon a press on the display. There are no details on the device, although it could be the leaked BlackBerry 9800 Slider.

There is even less information on the Curve3, the source simply suggests it could be the BlackBerry 9300.

Lastly, the rumoured tablet for Verizon is understood to have a 10.1" touchscreen display, a different size as to the display BlackBerry intends to use for its device; Verizon has commented that it will, in future, market Google Android tablets, so it may not be a BlackBerry tablet after all.
